London Broncos player Euan Parke has been selected for Roses’ U18 duty.
Parke is in the 23-man Yorkshire squad for the U18 Origin match v Lancashire next month.
The squads include some players with first team experience, including Huddersfield Giants’ stand-off Will Pryce who recently made his Betfred Super League debut at home to Catalans Dragons.
Parke, a 17-year-old middle or back rower, was signed on a scholarship extension and has been playing for the academy most of the season having impressed the scholarship and academy staff. His performances has been recognised on a regular basis and he has been selected by Yorkshire following a nomination and talent ID process. There was no Origin Academy due to COVID-19 in 2020, but in 2019 the club was represented by Oli Leyland who is now in our first team and Kai Pearce Paul who now plays for Wigan Warriors.
Rob Powell, London Broncos Head of Youth said: “This is a huge achievement for Euan and is fully deserved. He has been travelling from Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk multiple times a week for several weeks, so his parents also require a big thanks. It will be pleasing for his community club side, Eastern Rhinos, who have obviously been important in his journey. It will be an excellent experience for Euan and demonstrates the progress we are making in our player development programme at Broncos.”
The sides will be coached by Danny Wilson (Yorkshire) and Shane Eccles (Lancashire). The match which will take place at Weetwood Hall in Leeds will be streamed live on Our League at 11am on Wednesday August 4th.
