Tom Tsang said the players who are currently self-isolating are well and in good spirits.
This Sunday’s Betfred Championship home fixture against Widnes Vikings was cancelled under COVID-19 Protocols. More than 7 of our top 25 players are required to isolate and stay at home by the NHS Test and Trace app.
Mood in the camp remains high and the squad’s collective focus is now on to our visit to Oldham RLFC on Sunday, August 1 (3pm).
Those unaffected by the isolation rulings are training as normal with interim head coach Tom Tsang and head of performance Mike Eccles.
The club continues to adhere to all current COVID-19 protocols and none of our players have become seriously ill.
Tsang said: “Obviously it is frustrating we have had to cancel this weekend’s fixture but the safety of our players, staff, their families, our supporters and everyone at Widnes was our highest priority. We are continuing to take every precaution and follow the guidelines carefully.
“All players isolating are feeling good and we look forward to getting everyone back on the training ground together soon.”
August is shaping up to be a busy month for the Broncos squad with five games scheduled.
After our trip to Oldham, Toulouse Olympique XIII visit the Trailfinders Sports Club on Sunday, August 8. Away trips to Whitehaven RLFC and Newcastle Thunder follow with Sheffield Eagles’ visit on Sunday, August 29, concluding the month.
Tsang added: “Our performance against York City Knights was very encouraging and exactly what we required ahead of a busy period.
“It would have been nice to build on our momentum against Widnes, but we can only control what is in our hands.
“We have altered training accordingly to ensure all the lads are prepared to compete in our next run of matches.
“This is an important part of the season, and we will make sure we are ready for each challenge.”
