London Broncos can confirm hooker Matty Fozard will leave the club at the end of the season to join Widnes Vikings.

The 26-year-old has been a regular starter in the Broncos’ first team since moving to the capital in October 2018.

Despite a knee injury and a period of self-isolation due to COVID-19, Fozard has played a significant role in our 2021 campaign and recently returned to the scoresheet in our 42-12 victory over Sheffield Eagles.

Fozard will join his hometown club on a professional basis for the first time to move closer to family.

He will continue to represent the Broncos until the conclusion of our Betfred Championship campaign. Interim Head Coach Tom Tsang thanked the Welshman for his contributions.

He said: “Matty has been a pleasure to work with and leaves London Broncos with our very best wishes.

“Between now and the end of the season, we have three very important Championship fixtures and possibly a play-off campaign to fulfil.

“I can assure fans Matty is determined to make this season a successful one and will be giving his all this weekend when we welcome Featherstone Rovers. We’d like to thank Matty for his contributions to the club and wish him the best of luck.”

Fozard added: “I can’t thank London Broncos enough for the opportunity they have provided me in the last few years.

“My teammates, coaches and the backroom staff have all played a huge part in my career and I’d also like to thank the fans for their support. My job at the club isn’t over. I will continue to work hard and ensure we can reach the play-offs and go for promotion.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me and I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday against Featherstone.”
