London Broncos player Rob Oakley has committed his future to the club by signing a contract extension for 2022.

Oakley, born in Colchester and a product of the Eastern Rhinos Rugby League Club, made his professional debut in 2021 and gave supporters a glimpse of what he is capable of during a disappointing season but he is determined to play a part in getting the Club back to where it belongs, challenging at the top of the Championship table and promotion to Super League.

He told us “I’m very pleased to be re-signing for the club, this is of course where it all started for me, and I want to be a part of getting the Club back to where it should be, the fans deserve that.”

Rob played several times for Broncos Head Coach Jermaine Coleman during 2021 at the London Skolars and this was another reason Oakley decided to put pen to paper.

He said “I’m really excited to be working with Jermaine, I played for him at Skolars and I like how he wants to play Rugby League so I am looking forward to being a part of his squad and seeing what he can do with the Broncos next season.”

Broncos boss Coleman was equally excited to be working with Oakley and told Broncos Media that this is a big year for the young player from Essex.

“Rob has got so much potential and started to show that last season. This year will be important for him and he will be looking to kick on and make the starting role his own.”

“He has a great size and frame, as well as very good skills, I am excited to be working with him this and look forward to watching him develop and grow as a player and a person.”
