London Broncos Head Coach Jermaine Coleman has made experienced Papua New Guinea International Wellington Albert his latest signing as he looks to beef up his forward line ahead of the new season.

Coleman has spent several weeks pursuing the former Penrith Panthers and Leeds Rhinos player and was delighted, and relieved, to finally get his man.

He told us “Wellington comes with a fantastic reputation and at his best is difficult to handle. He has proven that at all levels of the game.”

“He had a difficult season this year missing it with injury but a full pre-season under his belt working with our staff and he will be fit and firing.”

Knowing the type of player Albert is was a driving force for Coleman and he feels that the 27-year-old will fit in nicely to the environment he is creating.

He added “He is a fantastic person and will fit in really well with our group. We have spoken a lot and I know he cannot wait to get started with us.”

“This signing gives us more impact in the middle of the park which will be vital for us this season.”

Speaking to Broncos media this week Wellington was itching to get back on the field following a tough year that saw him spend much of it on the sidelines with an injury.

He said “I can’t wait to play Championship Rugby again after having this year out with injury. I am looking forward to working with Jermaine and his backroom team to get myself ready for the new season and I’m really keen to get back out onto the pitch in front of those Broncos supporters.”

“It is going to be a brand new team with a new Coach and new ideas so I cannot wait to get started working under him and to try and build some combinations with my new teammates in Pre-Season. One thing I can say to people is that I will give my best week in week out, it is how I play.”

Albert will make the move to London with his family and this relocation was a major factor for the player wanting to join the London Broncos.

He added “My family and I are really excited to come down to London and experience the big city life. Despite living in England for the last 4 years we have never been down to visit those iconic sights so it will be an awesome experience for us all.”

“I should add it will be an honour for me to represent the London Broncos in 2022 and this is made even better by being able to play at the new stadium in front of the great fans I have been told about.”
