The London Broncos and AFC Wimbledon are to face each other in a Sporting knowledge challenge at the Cherry Red Records Stadium later this month in what will become an annual event between the two clubs moving forward.
As the Broncos get set to make the Plough Lane stadium, and the Wimbledon area their new home, this event will be the first of many collaborative events to celebrate the new partnership between the Football Club and Rugby League Club.
The Challenge will take place on the 25th November and London Broncos fans are encouraged to come along between 5pm and 7pm ahead of the ‘main event’ to have a look at the impressive Cherry Red Records stadium from within the stands, which will give them the ability to chose their seat, and get a feel for what to expect when we play our first Betfred Championship fixture at the ground.
James Milner, Head of Commercial at the Broncos hopes to see lots of supporters from both Clubs attending the evening and kick off the partnership between the Clubs with a fun night.
He said “Our fans have been waiting a long time for some positive news regarding the planned move to Wimbledon and it is so nice for us to be able to now start hosting events like this one. Apart from being able to come along and see the impressive facility for themselves they will also be able to mix with the Dons fans and sell the wonderful game of Rugby League to those that are not aware of how exciting our game can be.”
The format for the evening will be a simple Head to Head Sports Quiz with Mark Robinson, manager of AFC Wimbledon and 4 of his First Team Squad up against Jermaine Coleman with his choice of 4 Broncos players. The winners will be crowned the 2021 Sporting Quiz Challenge winners.
AFC Wimbledon Revenue and Operations manager Bal Srai added: “It’s fantastic that our two clubs are getting together like this – even if a few reputations will be at stake! It’s a great way to welcome the Broncos and their fans to our stadium and I’m confident it’ll be the start of a really positive relationship between us all.”
Tickets will be available from the link below and all proceeds will be donated to the Dons Local Action Group who carry out some amazing work in the community. Both clubs encourage fans to get their tickets early as it is expected to be a popular evening.
