The London Broncos are finally turning a corner and putting steps together to start challenging other teams, insists Iliess Macani.

The Broncos claimed our second Betfred Championship win of the season against the Dewsbury Rams earlier this month to climb the table.

Macani said: “To get out of the relegation zone is a big weight off our shoulders.

“Obviously, we know the job is not done but it showed us that if we keep pushing the way we have been then we can start to fight for a few more wins.”

Macani believes the performance last week proved to the squad what they are capable of.

He said: “We dug our heels in and found a way to win which showed real character. It’s something London teams have always been knows for and is something we want to build on for future games.”

The Broncos travel to Widnes Vikings this weekend for the club’s re-match on Sunday.

“The Broncos are nothing like the team that played Widnes at the start of the year so it’s a game that we are all really looking forward to,” said Macani.

“We know it’s going to be a big challenge, but we think that we are putting steps together for us to start challenging them and other teams.

“We are really starting to bed in as a team. The boys that have come from abroad have had a chance to adjust and now we are all gelling and becoming a tight knit family. Hopefully we will start to produce results that show we are coming together as a team.”

Recent training sessions have demonstrated to Macani the team has a renewed focus and drive.

“We are starting to get those outcomes right in training, so it feels like the team is really beginning to turn a corner.”

He added: “Our aim for the next few weeks is to really focus on ourselves. We need to start showing other teams that we do have character and that it is not an easy ride coming up against London.

“We want to make sure no stone is left unturned and that we put together the performances we need to work our way up the ladder.”

Kick off at Widnes Vikings on Sunday is at 3pm. Supporters unable to attend the game will be able to follow live updates via @LondonBroncosRL on Twitter.
