London Broncos Ladies are preparing to face 2021 Betfred Women’s Super League South champions Cardiff Demons at the Centre of Sporting Excellence on Saturday.
This weekend’s match is the final group stage fixture and the winner of the game will finish the season top of the league before the play-offs which will determine the champions.
Both teams enter the game with an unbeaten league record, and Broncos Ladies head coach Colin Baker hopes his squad can extend the club’s positive run of recent results.
He said: “We haven’t always performed as well as we would have liked, but the season has gone as well as could have been expected.
“The players are all really looking forward to the match, and to training this week – we’re keen to have some strong sessions going into the game.
“We’ve come this far unbeaten, but we’ve always focused on the match against Cardiff as our biggest challenge.”
The Broncos are under no illusions as to the strength of the Welsh side with the Demons making up the majority of the Welsh national team.
But, Baker says the Broncos are well prepared for the clash.
He added: “We have improved as a team this year, Last year was our first season, so we knew much less about what to expect from our opposition. This year, we’re better prepared to face the Demons and are excited to put our training and improvements into practice in our biggest challenge yet.
“We’ve had some real highlights so far this season. It’s been especially rewarding to see the core group of players we retained from our first season develop into a really tight, focused unit, and to see how far they’ve come.
“A victory against the Demons would be huge for us as a team. They’re an unbeaten side so far, so that would be a great result for us, and a real credit to the development and commitment of the players.”
Kick-off at the Centre of Sporting Excellence on Saturday is at 2pm.
