London Broncos are pleased to confirm experienced Academy coaches Kieran Robertson and Dan Roberts have accepted new roles with the club ahead of the 2023 season.
Kieran has been promoted to Academy Head Coach while Dan will work as Scholarship Head Coach underneath newly announced Head of Youth Chris Baxter.
The pair have nine years combined experience coaching the Broncos’ Academy and Scholarship squads and will now oversee both teams in training and their respective matchdays while assisting with recruitment.
Kieran first joined the Broncos in 2017 as Scholarship’s Assistant Head Coach and last season was Assistant Coach of our Academy and Reserves.
He’s also held senior coaching positions at Sussex Merlins, Brighton University and London Origin and last year guided Brixton Bulls to the London Men’s League Premier Grand Final which they won.
He said: “I’m really pleased to accept this new role at London Broncos and look forward to the challenges ahead. There is so much untapped talent across London through the junior league and other sports who we hope to work with in seasons to come.
“I have learnt a lot from my previous mentors and must thank Chris (Baxter, Head of Youth) for providing me with this opportunity.”
Scholarship Head Coach Dan meanwhile joined the Broncos in 2020 as Assistant Coach of the Scholarship.
The 24-year-old also has international experience having coached Scotland U19s and has worked closely with Brixton Bulls in the club’s minis and junior department.
“This is a fresh start for the Broncos’ Scholarship programme, and we’re all encouraged by the potential of next season and being able to unearth new talent,” said Dan. “It’s been a busy period recruiting players with Rugby League experience and those holding transferable skills who we can coach into becoming key players on the pitch.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time working with the Broncos since joining in 2020 and next season promises to be the busiest yet with a fresh team and structure in place at youth level.”
Head of Youth Chris Baxter added: “Kieran and Dan both know the Broncos’ Academy and Scholarship setup inside out having progressed their own personal careers in recent seasons.
“That cultural understanding is so important and puts us one step ahead of the game entering 2023 which promises to be a busy campaign with the reintroduction of our Scholarship squad.
“On behalf of everyone at the club, I’d like to wish Kieran and Dan every success in their new roles and look forward to working with them by tapping into the potential London has to produce quality Rugby League professionals.”
