London Broncos resume their Betfred Championship campaign on Sunday when Sheffield Eagles visit the Cherry Red Records Stadium in Wimbledon (3pm).

The Broncos recorded a historic triumph over Eagles when Mark Aston’s side last visited the capital.

After trailing 0-28 at half-time, Mike Eccles’ side registered 36 unanswered points in the second half to confirm an unimaginable eight-point triumph in front of a jubilant home crowd.

Eccles hopes for a more straightforward approach this weekend but said Sunday’s visitors will present a great challenge and is wary of the Yorkshire outfit’s on-field experience.

“I won’t forget last season’s tie in a hurry,” said Eccles. “It was the worst half of Rugby League I’ve coached followed by what was comfortably the best.

“Sheffield are a good team who have been together for a long time. They boast hundreds of games of Super League experience and the players and half back combinations they have are as good as any team at this level.

“Sunday will be a big challenge for us. Right now, there’s lots to be positive about and last week’s result at Halifax could’ve been different for us, I felt we deserved a draw for our efforts.

“But we haven’t let the result affect our processes. We’ve worked hard through the week and are ready for this game.”
