BIENEK IS A BRONCO!
London Broncos are delighted to announce that Lewis Bienek, sponsored by Martyn, Lynne & Megan Edwards, has signed a new contract with the club which will see him remain a Bronco until 2025.
The 25 year old is a product of the clubs academy and made his first team debut in 2016. Following permanent moves to Hull FC and Castleford, “Bieno” returned to London at the start of the 2022 season where he has established himself as a key player under Mike Eccles.
Speaking on the new deal London Broncos Director of Rugby & Performance said:
“For me, Lewis has been playing the best rugby of his life this season. We saw glimpses of just how good and how destructive he could be last year for a spell, but his progression and consistency were hampered by injuries. This year, with a bit of luck and a lot of hard work off the field to stay healthy, Lewis has strung together a long run of games and has been in absolutely devastating form.
“Lewis’ physicality has been a huge part of what we’ve been about as a team this year. His ability to win collisions and generate ruck speed in attack is clear for all to see. But Lewis’ tackle control and dominance in defence has been just as important to the team. Adding another string to his bow this year, Lewis has also developed some fantastic leadership qualities and is an integral part of our fabric on and off the field. I’m absolutely delighted to know we have Lewis in the middle of the field for us over the next two years. “
Plans are already well underway for next season with contract renewals for Bill Leyland & Marcus Stock recently announced. Bienek says he is delighted to have his future secured with a two year deal;
“I am really excited about where the team is going and what we can achieve. Mike has set out a clear direction of where we need to get to and with the group of lads we have got it is more than achievable.
For myself the past two seasons that I have been back at London have gone well and being a London lad myself to represent your hometown club week in week out is a fantastic feeling. I feel I’m playing some of my best rugby in recent weeks and having the opportunity to continue that for another few years is awesome.”
