BRONCOS TALENT PATHWAY
MONITOR ᐧ NURTURE ᐧ DEVELOP
At London Broncos we are extremely proud of our past success developing players through our Youth System, many who have gone on to be successful at the highest level.
Pathway method
By assessing each player, passing this information back to their Club or School coach, we can continue to work with and support the community game on an ongoing basis and strengthen the foundations that provide Broncos with the talent pool that exists in the South of England.
Lions Development Programme (LDP)
u12-U15 AGE GRADES
Each Lions Development day is a 2 hour assessment session that ensures that the fundamental skills, as identified by the RFL, are being implemented at a grassroots level. Furthermore, it allows London Broncos to monitor, evaluate and nurture the progress of a large number of community level players with the aspiration of achieving the highest level of player development. This will enable select players who are able to achieve the required level of talent identification, to progress to the elite level programmes - further along the London Broncos pathway.
Origin Elite Programme (OEP)
U16 & U18 Boys and Girls
The OEP is a 12 week Elite Rugby League Programme designed to bridge the gap between Community Level and London Broncos Reserve Grade Rugby League. Players will be nominated by their club and the OEP Coaching Team to an Open Access Trial Session. There will be a separate session for each area (North & South) and players will be divided into the following groups: u16, u18 as well as an u16 Girls section. The initial Open Access Trial will follow an extended format of our Lions Development days. Upon completion of the Open Access Trials - a squad will be selected for each group and region, by the Broncos coaching team. The evaluation data for each player will be used for their future development. Feedback will be available for each player and their coach in order to ensure development is ongoing and continuous.
Format of Origin Elite Programme
The selected players will attend a mid week training session, with an Origin Match being played every 4 weeks, for a total of a 3 match series. Our Elite Programme will include:
Elite Rugby League Coaching
Performance Testing
Video Analysis
Nutritional Education
Psychological Training
Future Development Planning
Throughout the programmes, there will be a continuous feedback loop between players and coaches to ensure player development is ongoing.
