Never without a smile on his face, we asked Junior Roqica about his decision to move to London, what he did for Christmas, and if he’s found a good English coffee yet.
LB: What made you choose the Broncos?
JR: After speaking to Hendo and understanding the goals he has in place for the club and the direction he sees the Broncos going, I was really excited to be a part of this team.
LB: What brought you to London?
JR: To experience playing and living in another country.
LB: How are you settling in?
JR: I am really enjoying London so far. I have been able to do a bit of sightseeing and am looking forward to doing a lot more throughout the year.
LB: How’s life in London treating you so far (especially the beautiful weather)?
JR:I knew what to expect with the weather, but so far it has been bearable. My tan hasn’t faded just yet.
LB: How are you fitting in with the squad?
JR: All the boys have been really welcoming since day one. It’s a really good team and I am excited to see what 2017 has in store for us.
LB: We’ve set some pretty high goals for the club this year, but what are your personal goals?
JR: Obviously gaining promotion back into Super League is the number one goal for the year. On a personal level I am hoping to have a strong and consistent season and do my part for the team, on and off the field.
LB: We’re two weeks away from the start of the 2017 season – how did you find pre-season? Are you missing running hills every Saturday morning?
JR: I found pre-season to be exactly what it always is… tough! At the same time, the cold weather has been nice to me compared to the scorching sun back home.
LB: What did you do for your first UK Christmas?
JR: My wife Candis and I went to Paris for Christmas. We had a really fun time, and it was a nice distraction as we were away from family and friends for the first time at Christmas.
LB: Have you found a good replacement for an Aussie coffee yet?
JR: Yes I have! Thanks to a few of the coffee connoisseurs in the team I have managed to find the perfect morning coffee.
