Broncos take points in York

London Broncos earned a thrilling victory over York City Knights in a high quality defensive display at Bootham Crescent in

These two teams had already faced off in the Challenge Cup only two weeks prior with the Knights winning in the last minute in the capital, but early tries from Rhys Curran and Guy Armitage saw the Broncos get their revenge in the league.

The Broncos got off to a fast start and in the 8th minute Rhys Curran crashed over from a well timed pass from Cory Aston, and Dixon, who is now only 4 points from equalling Paul Sykes all time points scoring record converted all three tries.

London doubled their lead five minutes later when Tuoyo Egodo out-jumped Jimmy Keinhorst to an attacking kick and fought his way in the ruck and Armitage took the ball and placed it down for a simple try and a 0-12 lead.

The Broncos were still attacking hard when Curran scored his second try off the back of the platform laid by Eddie Battye on the previous tackle. The visitors took an 0-18 lead after just 22 minutes but what followed could have been a serious case of deja vous.

Just like in the Cup contest two weeks previously, the Knights sprung into action ten minutes before half time to give themselves a chance in the game.
Matthew Marsh scored two quick fire tries from dab kicks through the Broncos line the first being his own in the 32nd minute, and again off Connor Robinson on the stroke of half time. Robinson successfully converted both tries and at hooter the Broncos were the more relieved to hear it.

Although there were to be no further tries in the second half, it was 40 minutes of high quality Championship rugby. The hosts kept on pushing for the equaliser but to no avail due to the impeccable defence and never say die attitude of the Broncos. Even as the final hooter sounded the Broncos managed to hold up Jason Bass over the line and take the two hard fought points back down the M1.
