London Broncos head coach Andrew Henderson was highly critical of his side after their second half collapse at the hands of Whitehaven on Saturday evening, and says it’s one to forget.
The Broncos led 16-0 before conceding two tries before the half time break, a second half collapse saw Whitehaven score a further 28 unanswered points to complete a home double over the Broncos with a 40-16 win.
“The second half was one to forget really,” said a dejected Hedenderson after the match. “We coughed up possession, disrespect with possession and penalties, penalties, penalties. We ended up with a man in the sin-bin because we gave that many penalties away.”
Henderson has vowed to make changes this week ahead of the third game in the Championship Shield competition and already has plans to bring in players from the Under 19s academy side.
“It was a very poor and ordinary performance and certainly one to forget. I’m not going to hide away from it, there will be changes next week. I’ve told the players in there not to come knocking on my door having a whinge why you’re not playing next week. I’m going to be bringing in four academy players to train with us this week and if they prove themselves at training they will play next week against Hunslet, there’s no doubt about it.
“I’m hoping to get some enthusiasm and attitude from them as we had a real lack of attitude certainly in the second half. We were still winning at half time and in a position to win the game, we could have won the game even as poor as we were but we went soft on ourselves and compounded our errors and discipline and Whitehaven really put us to the sword.”
