Ackers looking forward to Swinton at home

Andy Ackers will play his old side at home this Sunday for the first time since his arrival in the capital.

2016 is Ackers’ first season with the Broncos, after spending the previous two with Swinton, where he played an integral part in the team that gained promotion to the Championship, after beating Keighley in the Championship One final.

“I had some good times with those boys in the last two years,” he commented.

“I’ve never played at Heywood before, and it’s their first season there too so it will be interesting.”

Relishing the challenge, Ackers says Swinton are certainly not to be underestimated.

“Duffs will have them up for it and well drilled. They had a good result at Summer Bash, and had a tough test away at Fev.

“We are on a good run at the moment, and we’re looking to stay that way, but we know what we have to do, and we are there to get the two points.

“It will be a tough test for both parties.”

The Broncos take on Swinton Lions at Heywood Road in Sale, kicking off at 3:00pm this Sunday.
