French international half-back William Barthau made his long awaited comeback in Sunday’s 34-12 win over Hunslet Hawks at The Hive.
The win keeps the Broncos season alive with a real chance of finishing in the converted top four spot and Barthau says he’s happy to fit in wherever Andrew Henderson wants him to.
Barthau sustain an ACL injury in France’s European Championship match against Ireland last October and has been recuperating back to full fitness since under supervision of the London Broncos medical staff.
“I’m really happy and I’ve been working hard over the last eight months with our physio Rees Thomas who has done a great job, I felt good out there,” said Barthau.
“I waited 50 minutes to come onto the field but after five minutes I was comfortable out there as the other boys were talking to me and helping me.
“I’m going to work for the team now, I’m now not looking for myself, I’ve been focused on myself for the last eight months so I could come back in a good position but now I’m going to play where the coach wants me to play. If I need to start from the bench or if I need to play hooker or half-back I’m going to do whatever the coaches decision is.
“It’s good to be back out there, it’s a big win for the team and we’re really focused for the top four and that’s the objective. Ever game we’re playing to win.”
