Sam Wilde, a Warrington Wolves back rower, will join the London Broncos on loan for the remainder of the 2017 season.
The 21 year old, a former Shevington Sharks junior, made his Wire debut in July 2015 against local rivals, Wigan, and has gone on to make 21 appearances for the Wolves, including the 2016 Super League Grand Final.
In May, Wilde joined Widnes Vikings on a four week loan.
Having played with Broncos teammates, Andy Ackers and Ben Evans at Warrington previously, Wilde says the decision to move to London was an easy one.
“When I was told that I had the opportunity to come down to London, I thought it would be a great experience for me – not just in terms of playing games – but getting in with a new group, and moving away, getting down here and challenging myself.
“London have been going really well this season – they picked up a great result against Rochdale on the weekend.
“I know that London have won quite a few games now, so it’s just about keeping that form and the momentum up, and hopefully I can add to that as well.
“Coming down was something I was more than happy to do – it’s nine weeks until the end of the season, so I’ll just come down here and give it everything for nine weeks.”
London boss, Andrew Henderson, says the addition of Wilde will keep the current squad on their toes at a pivotal time in the 2017 season campaign.
“Sam joins us at an important time of the season, and will give us much needed cover in the back row position with Matt Garside still unavailable due to injury.
“He has gained some big game Super League experience already for a young player, which could prove valuable to us in our push for promotion.
“We’re looking forward to working with Sam, as I feel he is a great fit for this team and this club. He has a great attitude, high work ethic, and desire to learn and be better.
“The addition of Sam adds further competition for places and strengthens the depth of our squad going into the Qualifiers.”
Wilde will be available for selection in Sunday’s final regular season game against Batley Bulldogs.
