London Broncos and Wigan Warriors have teamed up to help promote Rugby League in the Capital.
Wigan are one of Rugby League’s most recognisable Clubs having been crowned champions 20 times and lifted the Challenge Cup on 19 occasions.
With a record number of Wembley appearances and London-grown players including Tony Clubb and Dan Sarginson, both of whom came through the Broncos ranks, Wigan have a long and successful history in the Capital.
On Saturday 5th September (3pm) the Warriors will break new ground by becoming the first northern Club to bring a Super League game on the road to London when they host Catalans Dragons at The Den in South Bermondsey.
As part of the agreement Broncos fans will be entitled to 20% off adult match tickets, meaning they can gain admission for just £16 adults and £10 juniors.
Wigan, who have recently opened an office on Buckingham Palace Road, will help promote London’s Championship Shield clash against Workington on Sunday 6th September (3pm) at The Hive, the day after their game at The Den.
“It’s fantastic to see Wigan and London Broncos working together for the good of Rugby League in the Capital,” said England international Dan Sarginson.
“There are plenty of the success stories for the sport in London such as the likes of myself, Clubby (Tony Clubb), Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook and Kieran Dixon going on to play for different teams.
“I believe that the Capital still has plenty to offer and hopefully the two clubs co-operating will help to achieve bigger things.”
