A strong second half from London Broncos saw the side fight their way back to emerge victorious from this year’s London Clash, 20-28 at New River Stadium.
The first match for new head coach, Jamie Langley, his side were the first to get points on the scoreboard, after Gideon Boafa crossed in the corner only 12 minutes in.
Dan Wellden’s conversion was successful, and a mere three minutes later, Boafa managed to touch down again. Wellden’s kick was unsuccessful however, and the score remained at 0-10.
Not content to let the Broncos leap ahead, a great pass from Will Lovell to Jimmy Morgan allowed the latter to get Skolars their first points on the scoreboard.
Charlie Lawrence was unable to add the extras, leaving the score at 4-10.
Not long after, Morgan managed to cross for his second of the afternoon. Lawrence’s kick was good, and with only 15 minutes until half time, it was a close 10 a piece.
With mere minutes remaining until the end of the first 40, Sam Druce stormed over, and a successful kick between the posts from Lawrence took the half time score to 16-10.
The scoreboard remained largely untouched for the majority of the second half, until 64 minutes in when, Lameck Juma scored in the corner. An unsuccessful conversion attempt from Lawrence followed, but the gap widened to 20-10.
London rallied, and the following minutes saw tries from both Angelo Buter and Boafa (his third for the match), and Wellden’s kicks sailed between the posts.
Sitting at 20-22, a tense final two minutes ensued. Seconds before the siren, a brilliant break from Jordan Williams brought the Broncos safely home, as both he and Wellden added the extra six.
