Broncos send the Pack Packing.

London Broncos stayed at the  top of the Betfred Championship on Sunday 25th February with a comprehensive 47-16 win over their Canadian visitors Toronto Wolfpack.
Broncos won the early exchanges gaining good yards and took a 6-0 lead after Api Pewhairangi went over the try line after 4 minutes on his return to the first team and with Jarrod Sammut kicking the conversion.
A converted try from Matt Davis made it 12-0 but Wolfpack struck back with Rich Whiting who took full advantage of a fumble in the Broncos defence to keep the Canadians in the game.
Following a successful Sammut penalty it was time for the try of the game on 26 minutes when Welsh international Rhys Williams showed a mixture of fancy footwork and brute strength to hold off four Wolfpack players to extend the Broncos lead.
Toronto never gave up and scored a try 7 minutes from half time when Andrew Dixon went over. A drop goal from Jarrod Sammut put the Broncos 21-12 up at the hooter.
Crunching tackles and several handling errors saw both teams struggle to take command in the second half but on 52 minutes on loan Widnes Vikings player Jordan Johnstone rewarded Broncos pressure with his first try for the club. Shortly after, however, Liam Kay touched down to cancel that out  with a try of his own.
A professional foul from Andrew Dixon of the Wolfpack left the Canadians down to 12 players and again Sammut kicked the penalty to make it 29-16 with only 20 minutes left.
Broncos took full advantage of the extra man and a tiring Wolfpack with two tries from Man of the Match Alex Walker and James Cunningham adding his name to the home side’s tally.
Sammut converted the Cunningham try but just missed out on a perfect day by missing the conversion for Walkers first.  He did however put over a touchline conversion, for Walker’s second to give Broncos a thumping 47-16 victory to jubilant scenes at the Trailfinders Sports Club.
Broncos travel to Sheffield Eagles next week and will look to cement their place at the top of the league.
