Broncos start 2019 with a win

London Broncos started their 2019 campaign with a convincing pre-season friendly win over Doncaster RLFC at the Keepmoat Stadium.

In their first competitive outing since gaining promotion to Super League, back in October, the Broncos cleared away any cobwebs by running in 11 tries and 10 conversions against the League One side.

The visitors travelled with a squad of 27 players as Danny Ward looked to make use of as many players as possible with the new Super League season only two weeks away and the starting 13 got off to a flying start as within three minutes the ball had gone along the line to Captain Jay Pitts who went over to open the scoring.

The game saw six players making their first starts in a Broncos shirt and seven minutes later following a break from Rhys Williams the ball went through hands for on loan debutant,Ryan Morgan, to score his first try for London. Another debutant, in Jordan Abdull, kicked the conversion and did not miss a kick in the first half as the Broncos continued to score.

Elliot Kear was on the end of a flowing move on 12 minutes and with further tries on 36 and 39 minutes from James Cunningham and Sadiq Adebiyi respectively the Broncos went into halftime leading by 30 points to nil.

Ward rang the changes at halftime and the second half started with Ioane, Lovell, Hindmarsh, Battye, Pelissier and another debutant in Morgan Smith all coming on. Throughout the second half everyone of the 27 who travelled got game time including a debut too for Gideon Boafo.

Ten minutes ensued before the Broncos were on the scoresheet again as Matt Fleming broke the line and the move was finished as Kieran Dixon touched down. The winger took over the kicking duties for the second half and continued where Abdull had left off converting five of the six tries scored in the second half.

On 56 minutes the Home side gave their fans something to cheer as Chrimes made a break and passed inside to Charlie Graham who touched down. Beharrell converted for the home side but that was the only respite for the Yorkshire club.

The Broncos continued to dominate and with tries from Eddie Battye, Will Lovell, Mark Ioane, Eloi Pelissier and a second for Dixon the Broncos ran out winners on the hooter by 64 points to 6.

The capital side will now regroup as they face Leigh Centurions on Sunday 27th in their final pre-season friendly.
