When: Sunday 26th November at 14:30 registration – 16:15 Finish
Where: Trailfinders Sports Club, Vallis way, W13 0DD
Who: Any boys currently in Year 10 and 11 at school

The London Broncos will be holding an Open Trial for its scholarship programme on Sunday 26th November at Trailfinders Sports Club. These are open to any Year 10 and Year 11 boys either already playing in the rugby league community game or from outside. Any players who played in the Hard Rock Cafe London Rugby League Origin Series who haven’t already been invited to train on the programme are welcome too.

The scholarship is the next rung on route to becoming a professional rugby league player.

The programme is made up of twenty Year 10 and twenty Year 11 players from London and the South East.

They train once a week until Christmas on Wednesdays 1830-2030 at Trailfinders and then twice a week picking up a Friday session at the same venue in preparation for matches from the  new year onwards.

There will be 7 competitive fixtures next season between February and April against Super League Under 16 Academy sides. Last year the team played the likes of Hull away and Leeds Rhinos at home.

During Year 11 places are offered to some players from the scholarship group into the Under 19s Academy at which point the players train more often, are paid and are classed as part time professional players.

The scholarship has a RFL category 1 status and the whole academy (Under 16 Scholarship and Under 19s Academy) was accredited this year where the overall rating was ‘GOOD‘. This placed the club alongside Super League academies such as Castleford Tigers and above many others.

The squad share the facility with the First team and the programme includes both field training sessions on the 4G pitch (so you will need boots (no metal studs) for the trial) as well as gym based sessions in the first class strength and conditioning suite.

There are also educational sessions throughout the year on such topics as – mental skills, diet/nutrition and talks from external agencies such as St Mary’s University (who are an official partner).

Should you wish to trial please contact Head of Youth Development, Rob Powell, at [email protected] , for the consent form, which MUST be sent back to the same email address by Wednesday 22nd November.
