The London Broncos will be holding an Open Trial for its Under 19 Academy programme on Sunday 10th December at Trailfinders Sports Club. These are open to any school, college, university or club players and is for both those who currently play rugby league and also those who may play other sports.
The Under 19 Academy programme is on the pathway to becoming a full time professional rugby league player and the squad, this season, will train three times a week between November 2017 and September 2018 on week nights between 18:00-21:00.
Last year the squad had a very competitive season beating the likes of Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors and we will see between 20 and 24 competitive fixtures this season in a structured league between February and August. This will include home and away fixtures against all the Super League Under 19 Academies.
The players in the Academy squad are paid and classed as part time professional players.
The whole academy (Under 16 Scholarship and Under 19s Academy) was accredited this year where the overall rating was ‘GOOD’. This placed the club alongside Super League academies such as Castleford Tigers to name but one.
The squad share the facility with the First team and the programme includes both field training sessions on the 4G pitch (so you will need boots (no metal studs) for the trial) as well as gym based sessions in the first class strength and conditioning suite.
There are also regular educational sessions on topics such as – mental skills, diet/nutrition and talks from external agencies such as St Mary’s University (who are an official partner).
Should you wish to trial please contact Head of Youth Development, Rob Powell, at [email protected] , for the registration/consent form, which MUST be sent back to the same email address by Wednesday 6th December.
Both players pictured above are products of the London Broncos Academy. Jacob Ogden and Rob Butler have both just signed First Team contracts with the club.
