New signing James Cunningham says it’ll take him a bit of time to get use to the physical nature of the Kingstone Press Championship.
Cunningham spent much of 2014 on loan at the Broncos and re-joined the club last week in a deal until the end of the 2016 season.
Speaking after the Broncos 40-24 win over Whitehaven on Sunday, Cunningham said the Championship is more physical than Super League:
“This league is a lot more physical compared to Super League,” he said. “People might not believe it but it is, there’s a lot more collisions which I’m trying to get use to. It’s a difficult transition actually but I’ll come through it.
“It’s great to be back and we got the win, that’s all that matters. We we were a bit off and we made hard work of it, no disrespect to Whitehaven but we were capable of putting in a better performance, we weren’t at our best. It was my first game back in four or five weeks so I’m glad to come through it without picking up an injury.
“Hopefully on the back of the win we can go into the Dewsbury game on a bit of a high. Hendo ( Head coach Andrew Henderson) said next week is again a must win game if we want to get in the top four and all the boys are working hard for that.”
