Hooker James Cunningham says the Sheffield Eagles game was hard for the depleted Broncos who lost Rhys Lovegrove and Joe Keyes to injuries during the game but the squad are looking for to competing in the Super 8s.
“It was a hard game for us, and for a large part of the game we only had one sub after injuries hit us early on,” said Cunningham. “A few of the boys down the middle including me ran out of gas a bit but the attitude was there.
“It’s great to carry on the attitude we showed during the Sheffield game to the Super 8s and have a real crack at it.
“I think there’s a belief down here that we can get something out of the Super 8s now. We have to get our heads down in the next couple of weeks and come away with something.
“It would mean the world to the boys to reach the final of the shield, and to Hendo too. The amount of work he’s putting in and the work that’s going on behind the scenes at the club I think we deserve something to show for it.”
The Broncos will enter the Super 8s Championship Shield on the weekend of 8/9th of August with a chance of making the Shield Final. Full fixtures are announced on Wednesday 29th July.
