Matt Davis could make his first team debut this Saturday at Summer Bash having been named in Andrew Henderson’s 19-man squad for the Blackpool spectator.
Davis, 18, originally played at Leicester Storm before playing for the Midlands Regional Academy and being picked up by London Broncos Under 19s Academy. Having impressed for the Under 19s Davis has trained with the first team for the last two weeks.
“It’s a real honour”, said Davis after being named in the 19-man squad. “I’ve been training really hard to get into the first team squad and I’ve been here for about two weeks now. I’m working hard and I’m really happy to be selected in the 19-man squad. Hopefully I will get to debut at the weekend.
“I’ve learnt a lot in the last two weeks from the boys including some of the older ones, it’s a massive learning curve for me at the moment. In training I’m doing contact work with some of the bigger guys and I’m really enjoying it. I’ve been trying to work as hard as I can at Academy level, trying to get into the first team and it’s my goal to get into the first team and get some games under my belt.
“The Summer Bash is a big event, and it would be massive for me to make my debut there and show people what I’ve got, I’m really excited to see if I get the call up.”
London Broncos face Sheffield Eagles at Summer Bash on Saturday 23rd May, 4:45pm at Bloomfield Road, Blackpool.
