Dewsbury Rams inflicted a third straight Super 8s Championship Shield defeat for London Broncos with a 25-16 win on Monday afternoon.
Dewsbury made their possession and position count in the first half, scoring after just six minutes after repeated pressure on the Broncos line. Penalties and mistakes hampered the Broncos and Dewsbury scored again after 13 minutes and a third on the half hour mark, with Shane Grady kicking two out of three conversion.
Jonny Walker came close for the Broncos after the half hour and it took the Broncos until the 37th minute to score. A William Barthau kick to the corner was collected by Rhys Williams who touched the ball down with the dead ball line fast approaching. William Barthau was unable to add the two.
It was the Rams who scored first in the second half after 52 minutes, to extend the lead before Jon Wallace (60) and Ben Hellewell (68) hit back for the Broncos after a period of extended pressure. Both scores converted by Barthau.
With time running out Anthony Thackeray kicked a drop goal with six minutes remaining, before Shane Grady added a final penalty kick.
