London Broncos forward Toby Everett can’t wait to play for the Broncos in the Kingstone Press Shield Final this Sunday after finally beating Dewsbury on the fifth time of asking.
“Beating Dewsbury last Sunday really got the monkey off our backs, they’ve been our bogey team this year. Getting the result was outstanding,” said Everett.
Everett, 19, came through the Broncos youth set up and made his first team debut this time last season in Super League against Salford Red Devils.
“The result came on the back of how we trained last week,” continued Everett. “The intensity has been there and the team’s attitude has been there and everyone has brought in to what we’re doing. Matt Davis tracking back for Dewsbury’s first try typifies that attitude.
“To play in any final is massive. It’s always something I’ve dreamt about, along with getting a first team start it’s these big games you dream about. I’ll get more nervous the more I think about the game, but I can’t wait.
“To get in the 19-man squad will mean a lot. I didn’t expect to play so many games this year but Hendo (Head coach Andrew Henderson) has stuck by me. It’ll just prove to myself that I’m capable of doing what I need to do out there and hopefully I can help the team get the result on Sunday.”
Tickets to the final are available now via the RFL ticket office, full details are available here.
