Former teammate sponsors Broncos duo

A former teammate of first team player Wes Naiqama has chosen to sponsor the Fijian international through his tag rugby business.

Phillip Browne, lined up alongside Naiqama 10 years ago while playing for international side Fiji A, and the pair have remained friends since.  Coincidently the coach of the opposition that day was Broncos first team head coach Joey Grima, who Browne has also chosen to sponsor.  Grima was coaching Malta, Fiji A’s opposition.

Browne runs London-based organisation Try Tag Rugby who run adult Tag Rugby leagues across London, Reading and Yorkshire. Tag Rugby, known in Australia as Oztag is currently enjoyed by over 5,000 players in England who compete across Try Tag Rugby’s year-round seasonal leagues.

“I’m really excited that Try Tag Rugby will be the corporate sponsor of head coach Joey Grima and Wes Naiqama for the 2015 season,” said Browne.

“Joey is admired and respected among many in rugby league circles. I first met Joey at the Fiji A vs Malta international. He’s such an approachable and great guy and I hope he does really well at the Broncos.  I’ve always admired the passion shown by Wes to pull on the Fiji Bati jumper and he’s a great ambassador for the sport in Fiji.

“For my company Try Tag Rugby to be able to support the club, Joey and Wes, who I both call friends, is an honour and a privilege. All of us at Try Tag Rugby are excited to see a successful season ahead for the London Broncos in 2015 and we wish the team all the very best.”

Head coach Joey Grima is delighted to have Phill as a player sponsor: “I’m flattered to have Phill and his company as my corporate sponsor in 2015. Ironically it’s 10 years since myself, Phill and Wes were all involved in the same game.

“I’m pleased for Phill and his company, Try Tag Rugby, and I hope the success of his company rubs off on the Broncos.”
