London Broncos Rugby League can confirm forward, Matt Gee, has re-committed to the club, penning a new two year deal which will see him remain a Bronco until at least 2019.
Arriving, officially, from Salford, at the end of 2016, 22 year old Gee had spent the season on loan at Workington.
Impressing in Broncos colours early on, Gee made his London debut against Hull KR in round two, and has gone on to make a further 15 appearances, scoring his first try in last weekend’s defeat of top two rivals, Featherstone Rovers.
Gee credits an easy decision to remain in the capital to his relationship with his teammates, and general enjoyment in plying his trade.
“I’m absolutely buzzing to have signed another deal with the club – I’ve really enjoyed it this year, and I can’t wait for another two years. I’ve loved my time so far,” he commented.
“I’m really good mates with all the lads, and as a result I’ve enjoyed my rugby this year – playing with my mates week in and week out makes it that much more gratifying.
“It’s a really close knit bunch of lads. We’ve worked hard for our results this year, and I’d like to think we earned each and every one of them.
“Everyone at the club wants to go to Super League, and that’s what we’re pushing at the minute, and all working towards. Fingers crossed we can get
it done this year.
“I’m excited to be part of what’s to come for the London Broncos.”
Head coach, Andrew Henderson, was pleased to be able to reward Gee’s hard work.
“We gave Matty an opportunity for this season, and he has impressed me as the year has gone on. We are really pleased to have secured him for a further two seasons.
“At only 22 years of age, I believe the best is yet to come from him, and we’re really looking forward to furthering his development with us over the next two years.
“Matty has proven popular with the group, has adapted to the London way, and has proved his value to this team, and this club.”
