London Broncos head coach Joey Grima said his side were out-enthused by Sheffield Eagles who were more motivated and wanted to win.
Speaking following his side’s 40-4 loss Grima confirmed injuries to co-captains Nick Slyney (5mins) and Richie Mathers (25mins), Joe Keyes (23mins) and Josh Cordoba during the game.
“I think it’s one thing, out-enthused,” said Grima. “It’s never good having three players injured including your two captains and your number one half but irrespective we still had 13 players out there and I just don’t think we competed.
“We didn’t compete hard enough and it was evident that by some of the tries that Sheffield scored – five tries off kicks – just their energy, their competitiveness was clear to see for everyone.
“It was just out-enthused by a side that were motivated and wanted to win, a lot more than what we did today, in particular areas. I’m not suggesting that our players didn’t go out there with the view to win, because we do that every week when we prepare it was certainly something that wasn’t evident through the preparation through our training program this week.”
Grima confirmed that the injured players will be assessed during the week ahead of the visit to Leigh Centurions.
