Furthering bolstering squad numbers ahead of 2018, Ben Hellewell has signed a two year contract extension with the London Broncos.
Ever present since his arrival in 2015 and a senior member of the current London Broncos squad, Hellewell has 79 appearances in London colours to his name, a number which is second only to Welsh international, Rhys Williams.
The 25 year old centre/second rower can also boast international honours, having represented Scotland on 15 occasions, and scoring 5 tries – the most recent of which, came in Scotland’s historic Four Nations draw with New Zealand in 2016.
Hellewell made his London debut in a 26-22 victory over Doncaster at the Hive in 2015, and has gone on to score a total of 39 tries in his 79 games.
“I’m really happy to have extended my time here, I love playing for London,” said Hellewell.
“Another two seasons will mean I’ve been at the Broncos for five years, and that’s something I’m really proud of.
“It’s no secret that we’re a tight knit group, and I love being able to pull on a Broncos jersey with my mates every week and do what we love.
“We’ve also got really big ambitions as a club – we want to return to Super League, and I’m really looking forward to being here when and if that happens.”
London boss, Andrew Henderson, commended the role Hellewell has played at the club over the last three years, and says he looks forward to what is yet to come.
“I’m really pleased to have secured Ben’s services for another two years,” commented Henderson.
“He’s a solid and reliable player – performing week in and week out, and I feel he has improved and developed a lot, both as a player and a person, in his time with us.
“This is Ben’s third season with London, and as a core member of that nucleus we’ve retained for the last few years, he has played a pivotal role in helping the Broncos establish the position we’re in now.
“I’m really looking forward to being able to continue working with him, and excited to see what he brings to the team and this club over the next two seasons.”
