Assistant coach Andrew Henderson is no stranger to this Sunday’s opponents, Sheffield Eagles, having spent four seasons at the club.
Henderson joined the Broncos as assistant coach at the end of 2014 working alongside head coach Joey Grima. He enjoyed playing success with the Eagles as Championship grand finalists in 2011, competition winners in 2012 and 2013 and semi-finalists in his final year at the club in 2014.
Speaking about last week’s game, where the Broncos took a 26-0 lead before winning narrowly 26-22, Henderson said: “I thought we got off to a great start but as the game wore on we lost a bit of respect and there was a bit of indiscipline.
“We only completed at 30 per cent in the second half and if it wasn’t for our defensive attitude and effort we could have possibly lost that game.”
Looking ahead to Sunday’s clash with his old side Henderson said: “We’re playing at the Keepmoat Stadium, which is a pitch Sheffield enjoy playing on because their style of play is very expansive. I know possibly what will be coming at us, they pose a lot of threats all over the park and have a decent forward pack who chew up the yards.
“They’ve got some exciting backs, so we’re going to have to be very much on our game.”
