Henderson names side for Salford clash

Andrew Henderson has named his 19 for Saturday’s game against Salford, with two academy faces making an appearance in the side.

It is likely the penultimate clash of London’s 2016 season, and injuries are starting to take their toll on the squad, says Henderson.

“We’re now at the point in the season where a number of players are carrying niggles and we’re starting to lose numbers on the training field and being available for a match day. However, with that said we have had a few of our academy kids training with us as back up, in case we had any issues. If any of them get a chance, then I’m sure they won’t let us down.

“Saturday’s game against Salford is an important one for both sides. For us it’s about getting some credibility back. We can’t change the past, but we can control and influence the outcome of these next two games.

“We had a successful Championship season and have competed really well early in the Qualifiers. Unfortunately the second half performance at Huddersfield and last week at home to Hull KR hasn’t been at the standards we expect of each other or from this team.

“We built up the Hull KR game and prepared really well in the week leading into it, and had a lot of belief and confidence that we could get a result. Naturally, the boys are disappointed not just with the result and performance, but with the fact that our hopes of promotion have dwindled.

“It is always tough when you feel you haven’t achieved your goals, and your confidence gets knocked, but the easy option now is to drop your standards, give up and focus on next season.

“The challenge now is to continue working hard – show that pride and integrity we have displayed time and time again; compete hard as we have done for the large part of 2016 and play with the intent to win.

“We are a quality team with quality players and I believe we will respond in the right manner on Saturday.”
