Henderson names team for second Whitehaven trip

Andrew Henderson has named his 19 man squad to make their second journey to Whitehaven, after the round nine clash was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Henderson’s side are currently second on the ladder – with a game in hand – and only three points shy of Leigh. The team also procured their first away win in Cumbria earlier in the season, and will be looking for a repeat performance.

Though not ideal having the game postponed, there have been some benefits, says Henderson.

“Luckily, it worked out perfectly that we’re both out of the Cup, and it made sense to play this weekend. It gave the players in both teams an extra week to recover after the busy Easter period, which is important.

“Hopefully the pitch is drier this week – for both teams. Whitehaven play quite an expansive game and I think it would be preferable for both teams to have a dry track.

“If it’s not, we just have to adapt our game and style of play for the day, and that’s the way it is.

“We’re looking forward to a challenging game this weekend – hopefully we can bring home the two points.”
