London Broncos head coach Andrew Henderson heaped praise on captain Wes Naiqama after he guided the Broncos to a 52-12 victory in their first game of the Super8s, Kingstone Press Championship Shield.
Naiqama kicked six conversions and scored a try in the Broncos nine-try demolition of Doncaster at The Hive on Saturday afternoon.
“I thought the way he led the team today in terms of his actions was outstanding,” Henderson told press after the match. “Some of his defensive work today was brilliant, some of his kick-chase efforts and I could hear his talk from the sideline and what he was trying to get to the players and lift them.
“I felt he really led from the front today. He doesn’t get many wraps at times but he’s been a really true professional this season in what has been a difficult year certainly for him coming over from the NRL it’s been a big culture shock for him.
“I can only commend him, and some of the other players that have come into this new environment and how they’ve handled the situation and Wes Naiqama has been a real gem. I’m really pleased, not only with his performance today but certainly the second half of the season for us but he’s certainly stepped up in his professionalism and leadership.”
