Jamie Langley has much to be happy about, after his first outing as head coach of the London Broncos academy produced a comeback victory.
The match started strongly for the Broncos – Gideon Boafa scored two unanswered tries in the opening 15 minutes – one successfully converted by Dan Wellden – to lead 0-10.
However, Skolars soon put their skates on, and were in front at half time 16-10.
The final ten minutes of the match saw three converted Broncos tries, and they were able to pull away for a 20-28 victory.
“I’m really proud of the young boys,” said Langley.
“They played strongly, and showed great resilience against a physically superior team.
“They didn’t tire, and they didn’t give up, and to come back from a deficit of 10 points to win by eight shows great competitiveness. We had some elements of fortune during the 80 minutes but that happens in rugby league and I’m happy the boys got the ‘W’.
“The lads have trained hard in pre-season, and on Saturday we are able to come out on the pitch and execute some of the things we’ve practiced.
“We play Hemel at home this Saturday, so now our attention turns back to working hard in training, and continuing on the pathway to becoming better people and better players.”
