London Broncos full-back and captain Richie Mathers is set to miss three months following ankle surgery.
Mathers sustained the syndesmosis injury to the ankle in an innocuous tackle during the first half of the Broncos round four win over Workington Town.
Interim head coach Andrew Henderson said: “It’s really disappointing to lose Richie on the back of losing Nick Slyney recently. We’re certainly doing it tough at the moment.
“Fortunately we have some cover at full-back with Ben Hellewell, Oscar Thomas and Alex Walker but we do hope Richie is back sooner rather than later.”
