London Broncos are delighted to announce that academy product, Matt Davis, has agreed a new long-term contract with the club. Davis agreed a one year deal a few months ago after making his Broncos debut and has today agreed to extend that deal by a further two seasons, keeping him at the Broncos until the end of the 2018 season.
Davis debuted for London Broncos in May’s Summer Bash win over Sheffield Eagles and has been a mainstay in the team since, impressing the coaching staff with his on-field performances and his attitude in training.
Speaking on his new contract, Davis said “I’m really pleased, being a professional rugby league player is all I’ve ever wanted to do and to have the opportunity to be at the club up to the end of 2018 will enable me to progress as a player during those years and hopefully play a big role in the team.”
“Since making my debut I’ve worked hard and I try to work on all aspects of my game at training sessions and Hendo gave me the opportunity to play at loose forward and I’ve managed to take it and hopefully I can impress in pre-season and get the opportunity in the side in the new season.”
“Hendo has a really good plan in place for the future of the club and he’s brought in the right players for next season and I’m really looking forward to getting started with pre-season and being involved with the quality of player that is coming into the club.”
London Broncos head coach, Andrew Henderson said “I’m delighted that Matt Davis has agreed to stay with the club for the next three seasons, he is further proof of the quality we have in the Academy and shows that there are clear pathways here at the club.”
“Matt has stepped up from the academy, making his debut at Summer Bash and although he has ended up playing more than expected this year, he has really impressed me with his attitude towards training and his performances on the field, so much so that we offered him the two year extension to the contract he only recently signed.”
