London Broncos is delighted to announce the signing of Luke Yates from NRL side Newcastle Knights.
Yates becomes the fifth new signing for Danny Ward since gaining promotion to the Super League in the Million Pound Game against Toronto in October.
The 23 year old Australian, who can play at both Prop and Loose Forward, joins the capital side, on a one year deal, having played 25 times for the Knights having joined them in 2013 graduating through their junior ranks up to the first team where he made his NRL debut in 2017 against the New Zealand Warriors.
Yates told us, “This is a great opportunity for me to be able to play in the Super League. I am looking forward to meeting all the boys here and helping to keep the club in the top level next season. I hope we can compete and shock a couple of those top teams in the process. I must admit its a lot colder than when I left Sydney but I am sure it wont take long to aclimatize.”
Head Coach Danny Ward said, “We are really pleased to have Luke joining us for the 2019 season and look forward to working with him. He will give us more depth to our middle and create more competition for places. He is a young, hungry, hard-working forward with NRL experience already under his belt.”
Broncos Chairman David Hughes said, ” We are very happy that Luke has joined us and he is yet another exciting player with experience at the highest level. Playing in the NRL will stand him in good stead here in Super League.”
