London Broncos Rugby League is delighted to confirm 2017 squad numbers have further increased, with the signature of Ben Pointer on a one year contract extension.
Pointer joined the Broncos in 2015, having previously played for Northampton Demons in Midlands Rugby League, and made his debut against Hunslet Hawks in August, as well as featuring in London’s September clash with Featherstone.
The 20 year old hooker has impressed in 2016 whilst on a season loan with London Skolars – making 13 appearances and scoring three tries so far – and says he has really valued his time with the League 1 side.
“I’m very happy to be staying on with the Broncos. While I’ve been playing for Skolars this year, I’ve also been training with the Broncos and it’s a really great group of boys,” said Pointer.
“It’s a really great club environment and the set up in Ealing is fantastic.
“The team have obviously done very well this season, and I really look forward to becoming a part of that, and continuing on with their good work next year.
“I’m really grateful for the opportunity that Hendo, Jermaine and Skolars gave me this year – I’ve loved my time playing at New River.”
Head coach, Andrew Henderson was also pleased with Pointer’s addition to his 2017 squad.
“Benny’s a fantastic young bloke, and a player we value, who has come through the system. He’s continually learning and further developing his skills, and he’s had a very strong season for Skolars this year and gained an impressive amount of experience and game time.
“It’s very pleasing to be able to reward his hard work with a further contract – he fits in really well with the culture of our squad, and he wants to be here for all the right reasons.”
