RFL junior finals at London Broncos

With the success of London Broncos and their promotion to the BetFred Super League the club are eager to continue their work with schools and community rugby league clubs throughout London and the South East.

This was evident on Thursday 31st January as the RFL held the Year 7 London and South East Year 7 Boys Champion Schools Regional Final at Trailfinders Sports Club.

Howard of Effingham school and Grey Court School, both from Surrey, fought out the game, in the cold conditions, under the watchful eye of Eddie Battye, Rhys Williams, James Cunningham and Head Coach Danny Ward.

With some great young talent on display Grey Court ran out winners by 22 points to 12 to lift the title. Both teams will now move on to the national rounds of the competition.

RFL Development Officer, Steve Guan said, “The Broncos have been fantastic regarding their support for this game and for the schools involved. I’m hoping that both schools can get a good attendance at the game against Castleford on the 23rd Feb with the complimentary tickets the club gave the schools and their staff.”

Broncos Head Coach, Danny Ward, told us, “It was a great afternoon Thursday, 2 schools playing in the Southern Schools Year 7 RL Final at our home ground with Broncos in attendance presenting the trophies and medals. All the kids had a great time playing on the main field and meeting the Broncos boys. We all really enjoyed the game and it was great to see the young blokes getting stuck into rugby league.”

Everyone at London Broncos wishes both sides the very best of luck as they move forward in the competition.
