The scholarship open training session is for any Year 10 and Year 11 boys either already playing in the rugby league community game or from outside. Any players who played in the Namco Funscape London Rugby League Origin Series who haven’t already been invited to train with the London Broncos are welcome too.

The scholarship is the first rung on route to becoming a professional rugby league player.
The programme is made up of twenty Year 10 and twenty Year 11 players from London and the South East.
They train once a week on Wednesdays 1830-2030 at Trailfinders and then twice a week picking up a Friday session at the same venue in preparation for matches from February onwards.
There will be 8 fixtures next season between February and August against Super League Under 16 Academy sides. Last year the team played the likes of Warrington Wolves and Castleford Tigers
During Year 11 places are offered to some players from the scholarship group into the Under 19s Academy at which point the players train more often, are paid and are classed as part-time professional players.
The scholarship has an RFL category 1 status and the whole academy (Under 16 Scholarship and Under 19s Academy) was accredited last year where the overall rating was ‘GOOD’. This placed the club alongside Super League academies such as Castleford Tigers and above many others.

The Academy Open training session is for any school, college, university or club players and is for both those who currently play rugby league and also those who may play other sports.
The Under 19 Academy programme is the next rung on the pathway to becoming a full-time professional rugby league player and the squad, this season, will train three times a week between November 2018 and September 2019 on weeknights between 18:00-21:00.
The squad will play 22 competitive fixtures this season in a structured league between February and August. This will include home and away fixtures against all the Super League Under 19 Academies.
The players in the Academy squad are paid and classed as part-time professional players.

Both squads share the facility with the First team and the programme includes both field training sessions on the 4G pitch (so you will need boots (no metal studs) for the trial) as well as gym based sessions in the first class strength and conditioning suite.

Should you wish to attend the open training sessions please contact Head of Youth Development, Rob Powell, at [email protected], for the registration/consent form, which MUST be sent back to the same email address by Monday 10th December.
