Jamie Thackray was delighted after Sunday’s win at Dewsbury which puts the Broncos into their first final in 16 years.
The Broncos last reached a final in 1999 when they played Leeds Rhinos in the Challenge Cup at the old Wembley Stadium. The 34-18 win over Dewsbury puts the Broncos into the Shield Final with Featherstone Rovers.
Thackray joined the Broncos initially on trial in March before signing a full time deal, and subsequently an extension to cover the 2016 season. Sunday’s game marked his comeback from injury, having been sidelined since the end of July.
“We trained well last week and we were really up for the game, I’m pleased I got the minutes I did, I think I done at least 40 minutes,” said Thackray.
“I’m pleased we’ve made the final and I’m pleased for Hendo as the coach, he’s worked so hard this year and building a squad for next season. This is for everyone behind the scenes who’ve worked so hard this season.
“It’ll be a great occasion for our fans too, and we really appreciate their support.
“We’re building something down here, we’ll keep building for next year and I’m sure they’ll be better times ahead with even more final appearances.”
Tickets to the final are available now via the RFL ticket office, full details are available here.
