Walton pleased with scoring debut

New London Broncos signing Jason Walton said he was pleased to make his debut and bag two tries in the process.

Walton joined the club last week from Salford Red Devils for the remainder of the 2015 season and for the 2016 season.

“I’m pleased to make my debut and get a couple of tries too,” said Walton after scoring a brace of tries in Broncos 40-24 win over Whitehaven at The Hive on Sunday afternoon.

“Hopefully after a few games I’ll be a bit fitter but I’m pleased with how today went for me personally.”

Walton paid credit to William Barthau and his passing in attack, but said heads dropped when Whitehaven scored a couple of tries.

“In training all week we’ve been running good lines, William Barthau is good at getting the ball out across the line so it’s easy pickings really.

“Everyone’s heads went down after we let a couple of tries in, we just need to pick each other up when that happens. It’s in our hands now, if we win the next three games there’s a massive chance we can get into that top four.”

London Broncos face two consecutive away trips (Dewsbury 12th July, 3pm and Workington 19th July, 3pm) before their final game before the Super 8s at home to Sheffield Eagles on Sunday 26th July, kick-off 3pm.
