London Broncos Rugby League is delighted to confirm that Danny Ward and Mike Eccles have also extended their times with the London Broncos, on one and two year deals respectively.
Currently Assistant Coach to Andrew Henderson, Danny Ward has previously been involved at all levels of the London Broncos. In 2013, he was Assistant Coach of the under 16s, before stepping up to become Head Coach of the under 19s team in 2014 and 2015. Ward also played for the club (then known as Harlequins RL) from 2008-2011.
“Personally, I think the club would be dull without me,” commented Ward.
“Next year will be my tenth year in London, and both my family and I have loved our time down here.
“We’re creating something very special at the Broncos, and I’m both excited and grateful that I’m able to play my part in continuing on with that, and to keep building on our recent success.
“As a team and as a club we’re committed to growing the game of rugby league in the south, and I’m happy to continue proudly flying that flag.”
Head of Performance, Mike Eccles, has been with the Broncos for the last five seasons – joining under then Head Coach, Rob Powell, and since then, working with Tony Rea, Joey Grima and now Andrew Henderson.
Before London, Eccles joined the Salford Red Devils on a voluntary basis in 2007 to run the academy and reserve grade strength and conditioning program, and by 2010 had been promoted to Head of Strength and Conditioning.
“Entering my sixth season with London Broncos is something I am immensely proud of. With the support of Dan Mays, we run a tremendous physical development program here – from scholarship and academy level through to first team,” said Eccles.
“Moving forward our aim is clear; we want to continue building the best infrastructure possible and to take London Broncos back to Super League.
“I feel privileged to be part of the project and want to thank Hendo and the club for allowing me the opportunity to be involved in what I’m sure will be a very exciting and productive future.”
Head coach, Andrew Henderson said he was very pleased to be able to continue working with both Ward and Eccles.
“Both Mike and Danny add great value to our club – they work hard to improve our players, and have been and will continue to be valued members of my support team.
“I’m very happy to have secured both staff members for further years to come.”
