SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT: Oldham RLFC vs London Broncos Mike Eccles has named his squad for Sunday’s Championship trip to take on Oldham RLFC at Boundary Park. It is a very similar squad to the one that faced Dewsbury Rams in the 1895 Cup but both Matt Ross and Sam Winney are likely to feature for Cornwall RLFC on their dual registration’s so drop out of the Broncos squad. The new name in the squad is that of 20-year-old halfback Jenson Binks who is named in a first team squad for the first time. Binks has been with the club since the age of 15 and has impressed with both the academy and reserve side last season. The full squad can be seen below plus Mike Eccles pre-match interview is available to watch in full. #WeAreLondon

WHO HAS PLAYED FOR BOTH: Oldham RLFC & London Broncos London Broncos renew rivalries in league action with Oldham for the first time since 2021 on Sunday and it is a fixture that has been relatively sporadic in recent years due to playing in different divisions. In fact the sides have met just 10 times since 1997! In the Oldham team this season is a couple of former Broncos in Keiran Dixon and Josh Drinkwater but who else has played for both sides? We have picked out some notable players below and if you scroll to the bottom there are some extra ones picked out. Hussein M’Barki, winger, 150 games for London (2 spells 1981–91), 59 games for Oldham, 1985–87 What better place to start than with a London Broncos Hall of Famer Hussein M’Barki. The winger is 8th all time for appearances and tied 6th for tries scored and was the first ever player inducted into the clubs Hall of Fame in 2014. The Moroccan was a prolific scorer during his two spells with the club but never quite replicated the same success at his other clubs. M’Barki played for Oldham for two years between 1985 and 87 playing 60 times scoring 12 tries.

MATCH PREVIEW: Oldham vs London Broncos London Broncos return to league action for the first time since February 23rd when they head to Oldham to take on Sean Long’s side. Broncos have made a solid start to the campaign, despite a lot of off-season uncertainty, a win over Featherstone and a 1895 Cup win over Dewsbury means Mike Eccles’ side have proven they won’t be any pushovers this season.

LONDON DEVELOPMENT DOWN LONDON SKOLARS (by David Ballheimer) London Skolars (0) 6, London Development (20) 32 London Skolars’ annual Capital Challenge was played on 14 March against a London Development team, a squad of players being considered by the London Broncos, but not under contract to them. The Development team, containing a couple of players who had appeared for the Broncos, made a superb start, scoring tries in their first, third and fifth possessions. After barely a minute, a pass out to the right wing picked out Jamaican international and former Skolar Leighton Ball, and he showed his athletic ability with a sprint to the line near the corner flag. Jenson Binks could not improve the score. Three minutes later, a powerful run from Euan Parke took him through two poor attempted tackles and he had the speed to go past the defensive cover before touching down. Binks added the extras.

THE NUMBERS: London Broncos and Oldham RLFC Sunday’s meeting between Oldham and London Broncos will be the first time the two sides have met since 2021 and the first time at Boundary Park since 2007. Despite the time between the league fixtures the two sides did in fact meet in a pre-season friendly in 2024 where the game ended in a draw. A rare result in itself in Rugby League but even more so in that it was the first time London hadn't won the game in 13 meetings. However, with it being a friendly game it doesn’t count towards the official records.
