London Broncos Talent Pathway

Supporting the Talent Pathway

London Broncos are extremely proud of their success in developing players, many  of whom who have gone on to be successful at the highest level. The London Rugby League Foundation supports the development programme for high potential rugby league players in the Junior age groups from U12s to U16s, which are run in conjunction with the London Broncos, the London Junior League and the RFL. This includes Lions Development Training & Assessment, which are a first step on the player pathway and are open to all, the Origin Series between the best of North London and South London, and potential Representative Honours.

Lions Development Training

Lions Development Sessions are 2 hour training sessions which are open to all and aredesigned to take core skills to the next level and for players to take a first step onto the London Broncos Player Pathway.

Our Professional Coaches provide top-quality training to help players improve their game, and support and assess their development as they progress along the pathway. Performance in the Lions sessions also contributes towards selection for the Origin Series later in the year.

In 2025, nearly 300 young rugby league players from London & South-East took part in sessions for U12s, U14s and U16s, which were held at convenient venues on North London and South London, and feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

"My son really enjoyed the session today and can’t wait for the next one. From a parental perspective I thought the drills were great and the coaches spoke clearly and encouragingly to the boys. Great to see rugby league growing!" Lee Hill, Parent.

In 2026 there will be 3 sessions for each age group, U12s, U14s and U16s, again held in North London and South London, during Easter Holidays, May Half-Term and June/July. Dates and venues will be published in due course.

The 2025 Series was very successful, with matches played to a high standard. After 4 great matches the South won each of the Series 2-0, and played some fantastic rugby league along the way.

The best U16 players from the Origin Series will be selected to form a London & South Representative Team. This team will go to Leeds on 29th October to play a tournament against the Community Lions of Super League teams including Leeds Rhinos, Castleford Tigers and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

The Team will be selected and coached by the Origin Coaches. Ahead of the Tournament in Leeds there will be training sessions on the following dates and venues:

Mon 20th October, Epping Upper Clapton RFC (7-9pm).

To make this happen we need to raise £2000 to provide kit for the Team and transport to the matches. Please donate today so we can fly the flag for London Rugby League in the Heartlands, and show the quality of the young rugby league players in the region!

England Community Lions 2026 - U16s, U17s, U18s

The best players from the Origin Series and the London & South-East may have the opportunity to play for the England Community Lions during 2026. England Community Lions U18s and U16s will play a 4 Nations Series against the other Home Nations, and the U17s will play a Series against France, both during the summer term of 2026.

Selection for these teams will be based on the England trials which will be held at Brentwood Eels on 1st March 2026. In order to be eligible for these trials, current U16 players will need to have played for the London & SE U16s this year and current U15s will need to have played in the Origin Series, unless there are exceptional circumstance.

Note current U16s will be U17s in 2026 and current U15s will be U16s in 2026.
