Player Biography

Will Lovell is a second row who will go down in Broncos’ history as a true great of the club. Despite being born in Northampton and going through the age grades with Northampton Saints Rugby Union, Lovell’s talent in Rugby League was evident for all to see and he eventually made the switch to the Broncos academy in 2010. Will has been club captain since 2021 and made his professional debut with the club on May 27th 2012 in a 42-18 loss to Catalans Dragons.

Since making his Broncos debut Lovell has always stayed in London but spent 4 years at London Skolars (2013 & 2014 loan, 2015-2016 permanent) before making his return to the Broncos in the 2017 season.

Before the beginning of this season, Lovell had made 133 appearances for the club, scoring 16 try’s in this time.

Lovell has been a part of many great moments for the Broncos including our two most recent promotions back to Super League vs Toronto Wolfpack in 2018 & Toulouse in 2023.

Lovell has continued to captain the squad in 2024 and his leadership skills shall be key to our chances of success up until the end of the season.

Will Lovell is sponsored by Rob & Mandy Smith for the 2024 season.

At 14 he signed a scholarship at Widnes Vikings initially playing as either a hooker or half-back. Rourke would spend 2 years at the club before more heartbreak when he was released. At that point Rourke rejoined Chorley so he could continue to play but more for fun “with friends”. It was at this point he began to play full-b
